Gramicci

Gramicci was born from the climbing revolution of the 1970s in California’s Yosemite Valley, where a group of free-spirited climbers known as the Stonemasters pioneered bold new styles that demanded more flexible gear. Mike Graham, one of these climbers, designed the first Gramicci shorts. Featuring a diamond-shaped gusset for full range of motion, a durable canvas build, and a one-handed adjustable nylon belt.

In 1982, the Gramicci brand was officially launched, its name inspired by a playful “Italian” alter ego Graham created during a climb. The tough, functional design quickly caught on not just with climbers, but also surfers, skaters, and streetwear enthusiasts drawn to the iconic “running man” logo.

Eventually, Gramicci found a new home in Japan, where its legacy of innovative, movement-focused apparel continues. More than 40 years later, Gramicci remains true to its roots: durable, functional clothing built for life outdoors, and far beyond.
